Explore the styles and history of traditional and contemporary batik. Batik is a process of using hot wax and dyes to create stunning artworks.

Experiment with batik application and dying processes to create you uniquely designed artwork on fabric. Using a variety of forms and images as stimulus Sally will guide you through the batik techniques, and help develop and extend your understanding of colour relationships and pattern making. This class is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced students. No art skills are necessary just your enthusiasm!

The January school holiday's were full of Indian elephants and henna patterns. I ran a series of printmaking and batik art workshops for kids in conjunction with Zest Events. The workshops were held at Parramatta Heritage Centre.

There are more free art workshops coming up in April school hols. You can go to the Heritage Centre website for details.

Here are some images from the classes.

Look out ArtStreet 2010, eight young creatives have been working hard on artworks to be a part of the exhibition next year.

The concept of ArtStreet Art Workshops was sparked this year when coordinating ArtStreet for the Winter Magic Festival in June. We had 64 amazing entries yet only a few of those came from young people. Art Start funded a series of workshops created to provide a group of enthusiastic young creatives to explore new skills, share ideas and create an artwork ready for exhibition in ArtStreet 2010.

The work can soon be viewed on the Studio Outside Art Workshop online gallery. You can also see some of the participants at the Creative Careers Expo. held at the Carrington Hotel, Saturday 31st October 2009, 2pm to 4.30pm.

Below are some images from the workshops.

I am running a series of free Art workshops that are designed to encourage young people to develop new art skills and create artworks ready for exhibition in Art Street 2010. These workshops have been funded by Art Start. Please see the attached poster for more details.
